The Honorable Gerry Weiner (Queen’s Privy Councillor)
The Honorable Gerry Weiner is a pharmacist educated at McGill University and Université de Montréal. Gerry is a former minister in the Canadian Government and a former elected member of Canadian Parliament. He was appointed Chairman of Board of Directors for the old Port of Montreal by the Canadian Government in July 2009. As a two-term member of parliament (1984 and 1988) he held the positions; Secretary of State, Minister of Multiculturalism and Citizenship, Minister of Immigration, Member of the Planning and Priority Committee of the Cabinet, Parliamentary Secretary to External Affairs, and Queen’s Privy Councillor.
On the municipal level, Gerry was a Member of the Executive Committee of the City of Montreal, and a Board Member of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. He was successfully elected Councillor and Mayor of Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Quebec.
In addition to his role with Kalovida Canada, Gerry is currently the Director of Investor Relations for Altec Global Capital, Corporate Strategy Advisor with APS Application Processing Services, Corporate Strategy Officer with Uniques Software Corporation and an Advisor to Guy Lam and CP Homes.
As a community volunteer, Gerry was President of the Board of the Canadian Friends of Haifa University, President of the Education Foundation of the Canadian Association of Former Members of Parliament, member of the Mount Sinai Hospital Board of Directors, Chair of Board of Directors Centre for Literacy of Quebec, Member of the Board Foundation for Vital Aging, Treasurer of Alliance Quebec, Member Advisory Board Executive Committee Member of B’nai Brith Canada, Member of the Board of CLSC Rene Cassin, and Foundation Member of the Board of Lakeshore General Hospital.
